Saxton go top after hard earned victory

Saxton Rovers Reserves went top of Division Two and kept their one hundred percent record with a hard fought 3-1 victory over a determined Compton side. Saxton hit the ground running when they took an early lead when Carl Archer headed home an Eddie Jones corner past Compton keeper Matthew Price from close range. Compton then had a few half chances to draw level put these were either saved or missed until Saxton went further clear on twenty five minutes when Kyle Allsworth fired home a free kick past Price from just outside the box.Saxton should of gone further clear moments later when James Shaw was put through on goal but he could only blast his shot over with the keeper to beat. Compton then stepped up the pace and had many chances before half time to pull a goal back with Alex Caines firing over from an acute angle following a long cross and then substitute Patrick Whelan firing wide with the goal at this mercy after good work by Caines and Mike Booroff and Ben Bozoska firing just wide from outside the box. Compton then started the second half well with both Bozoska and Whelan going close with long range efforts as they looked to get ,back into the game. The following twenty minutes followed with neither side creating any chances to note with both sides cancelling each other out. Then on the seventy minute mark Compton pulled a goal back when Michael Butler picked a up a loose ball just inside the box and turned a fired past Saxton Keeper Kai Dean. Then the same player had a great chance to level the scores when he had a close range header from around ten yards but he could only head straight at Dean. Then with minutes remaining Saxton went further in front when a long free kick by keeper Dean flew over the Compton defence and left George Goodenough one on one with keeper Price and he took a touch a fired home to collect all three points Saxton.
Charity Shield Round up
In Group A Division One North Oxford claimed all three points with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Division Two side Watlington Town thanks to two goals from Jack Hinkin with Joe Brewer also finding the net whilst Sam Carter-Knight scored for Watlington. In Group B Harwell were rewarded for the long trip to Lambourn Sports with a fine 3-1 victory with Jake Chaffrey, Lewis Noble and Paul Churchouse amongst the goals whilst Jonathan Peachey Score found the net for the home side. In Group C Berinsfield made short work of their opening game with a fine 7-2 victory over Westminster with Max Palmer claiming a four timer with other goals coming from Chris Murphy, Charlie Lee and David Murphy with Dan Hill and Luke Lewis Rippington scoring for Wesminster.Hanney United also made a winning start in the group claiming a 3-1 victory over Steventon with Sam Bishop, James Bishop and Dan Morgan all finding the target whilst Sam North scored for Steventon. In Group D Saxton Rovers went goal crazy and chalked up their second 10-0 victory this season this time over Faringdon Reserves with Tom Stanley claiming a four timer and Niall Hodgkins scoring twice with further goals coming from Dan Parry, Gary Belcher, Louis Bloomfield and Jack Bernasconi.
Division One
In the only game played in Division One East Hendred travelled to Cottage Road and claimed a fine 5-0 victory over Stanford-In-The-Vale with goals coming from Adam Claydon,Michael Farrelly,Patrick Howe, Dan Timbrell and Harry Dalton which now moves them into second place in the league.


Division Three
Marcham moved up to third place in the league with a fine 5-1 victory over Letcombe Reserves thanks to two goals from Josh Gilsenan with Dan Thomas, Tom Cousins and Stuart Armstrong also finding the target whilst Bailey Abrams scored for Letcombe. Long Wittenham Reserves also moved up the table with a fine 4-0 victory over Uffington United thanks to two goals from Andy Sutherland with further goals coming from Wayne Railton and Chris Bowler. Lambourn Reserves got their first league victory of the season when they travelled to Wallingford Town A and claimed a narrow 2-1 victory with Dan Glozier and Clinford Dzvia finding the net whilst Kyle Carrigan scored for Wallingford.
Division Four
Berinsfield Reserves went top of the table when they claimed a fine 6-2 victory over Hagbourne United Reserves with Mennan Calvo scoring twice with further goals coming from Harvey Moore, Jack Jones, Jon Welch and Iain Pledge whilst Calvin Williams and Tyresse Williams scored for Hagbourne. Cumnor Minors kept tabs with the leaders but were held to a 1-1 draw against Faringdon Town A whilst Marcham Reserves pulled off a fine 4-3 victory over Watlington Reserves to move amongst the pace setters thanks to two goals from Billy Wilson with Alex Meakin and Leighton Jackson also finding the net whilst Watlington scored trough two goals from Frazer Wilson and a further goal from Gabby Haycock. Appleford got their first league victory of the season claiming a thumping 8-0 victory over Steventon Reserves with Eddie Stanhope, Sam Ribeiro and Billy Baker all scoring twice with Richard Kirk and Harry Faulkner also finding the net.
Berks & Bucks Cup.
It was a mixed bag for the North Berks teams with Long Wittenham going out a t the first hurdle in the Senior Cup losing narrowly 2-1 against Kennington Athletic whilst in the Junior Cup Crowmarsh crashed out 3-1 away at Kennington Reserves but Sutton Courtenay won the all North Berks fixture 4-3 against Ardington Reserves. Hagbourne United travelled to White Eagles Reserves and claimed fine 6-1 victory with Dom Lovegrove and Alex Rodman both scoring twice with Jamie Clarke and Connor Dawson also finding the target. Cholsey United made short work of AFC Corinthians Reserves claiming a thumping 8-0 victory with Joe Barrett hitting a hat-trick and Dan Woods and Luke Higgins scoring twice with Pete McLaughlin scoring the other goal.

Saxton Rovers win 10-0 for the second time this season.

Appleford hit eight away at Steventon Reserves.
Berinsfield fire seven past Westminster.
